Lascassas is unincorporated countryside in northeast Rutherford County — a stretch of farmland, hayfields, and large residential lots running along Lascassas Pike, Halls Hill Pike, and the back roads toward Walter Hill. Hauling work in the area is shaped by acreage. A typical job pulls multiple loads from a single property: an old shed leaning past saving, a back-pasture scrap pile that’s grown for years, and the contents of whichever outbuilding stopped being used after the riding mower broke.
Long-Term Residency, Long-Term Accumulation
A lot of the housing stock around Lascassas was occupied by the same family for decades. When ownership changes hands — through estate, downsizing, or a generational move — the cleanout volume reflects forty or fifty years of stored items. Common loads:
- Workshop contents from a detached garage that hasn’t been emptied since it was built
- Furniture spanning multiple decades, including pieces that don’t fit modern doorways
- Old chest freezers, second refrigerators, and water heaters from outbuildings
- Scrap metal piles — fence wire, broken siding, old cattle panels

No Curbside, Long Trips to Disposal
Most of unincorporated Lascassas doesn’t have curbside garbage pickup. Residents either contract a private hauler or carry loads to the Rutherford County convenience center on Sulphur Springs Road. Bulky items — appliances, treated lumber, large pieces of demolition debris — usually exceed what fits in a homeowner’s pickup or trailer, which is why hauling pickups end up scheduled out by appointment instead.
Storm Cleanup on Open Land
The exposed pasture and tree-lined property edges along Lascassas Pike take direct hits from the spring storm cells that move through Middle Tennessee. Downed cedar limbs, snapped sections of barbed-wire fence, and blown-off metal roofing accumulate fast and stay where they fell until something hauls them out. Combined demolition-and-haul jobs are common after a hard squall line.
